Quick Flower Guide

Monday, June 28th, 2010

I’m sure like most people purchasing flowers, you don’t have time to get into the nitty gritty of what flowers are appropriate for what occasions.  On the other hand, the last thing you want to do is offend someone or send the wrong message when sending flowers.  Here is a quick and fast guide to take or remember when sending flowers:

Want to show how much you value someone’s friendship? Send Chrysanthemums, Carnations, Daisies, Geraniums, or Tulips.  These are all appropriate flowers.  Tailor the color to suit the occasion, such as white for a peace offering, yellow to cheer someone up, or pink for Mother’s day.  Or feel free to use the person’s favorite color when sending flowers.
Need to cheer someone up?  Nothing beats a big, bright, fresh sunflower.  Gerbera or Gerber daisies are also a great choice, being closely related to the sunflower and sprouting the same large and bright petals in a wide variety of colors.
Want to show that special someone how much you love them?  Nothing says romance like a rose.  Tulips in red or pink are also a great choice that signal romantic affection.   Definitely steer clear of these flowers if your intent is not romance!
Looking to just send someone a beautiful gift of flowers?  Iris’s, Lilies, Orchids, are all neutral flowers that signify beauty, peace, innocence, and purity.  They make great choices and can often be used decoratively.
