First Date Flower Suggestions

Friday, June 25th, 2010

Many men (and women) might think that giving flowers on the first date may seem a bit too forward or ostentatious.  Let me assure you that it’s not… so long as you “keep things simple!”  You don’t need to go all out with a large, fanciful bouquet which screams desperate.  A single flower or small arrangement tells your date that you’re a thoughtful and generous individual.  So what kind of flower then is a good choice for a first date?

Red roses are the traditional symbol for romance and love.  This would make an excellent choice for a first date with that special someone.  For those bold individuals who wish to make a strong impression, purple or lavender roses signify deep adoration and love at first sight.

For those on a blind date, or who are unsure of their feelings chrysanthemums, gerbera daisies, and sunflowers are all safe, conservative choices which signify joy, happiness, and optimism.  It’s a good way of saying I’m happy to have the chance to get to know you.

If you’re on a budget, carnations are always a good bet.  Known as the “flower of love,” their ruffly, perky appearance convey cheerfulness and happiness.  It lets your date know that you are a fun and caring individual.

Lastly, for those looking to impress, tulips are well known for conveying perfection, love, elegance, and wealth.  Tulips can be a lavish expense that demonstrates that you are a sophisticated and generous individual, and make a great gift flower for the date that likes to be pampered.

Giving flowers on the first date can be an unexpected surprise and a way to not only impress but to start the evening on a good foot.  Not only are first impressions are critical, but giving a flower gift can also be a great conversation starter for those of you who are shy or unsure of what to say.
